Novi Sad holds the prestigious title of the European Capital of Culture and is one of the first cities outside the European Union to have won the title.

Barka Cultural Station

As one of greater infrastructural endeavours within the ‘Novi Sad – European Capital of Culture’ project, Barka Cultural Station helps fellow citizens experience the neighbourhood as a new centre of events and attractive location with numerous cultural events. With its spaces for the residential stay of an artist, Barka Cultural Station has a great potential to position itself on the regional cultural scene.

Some of the most important identity determinants of Barka are centre-suburbs relations, inclusion in -exclusion from a community and emigrations, which are characteristic for Novi Sad. Its forerunner is the Cultural Corner that was opened in October 2019, and that activated the local community and presented the idea of the future space for culture.

In the simple and functional space of Barka, cultural heritage of this neighbourhood and diversity will be presented in a modern, interactive way.
